Katonah Yoga IN-PERSON

Katonah Yoga is an advanced yet slow-paced Hatha practice based off of the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoism. In these traditions, the body reflects the narrative of our lives. In Katonah Yoga we use poses to uncover the unconscious habitual patterns of the body, our first nature, so that we can evolve into a second nature, a more conscious construction of the body's structure and function. By learning to fold within joint space, measure the body well, and apply sacred geometry to the poses, we can assist the flow of energy throughout the body and open the mind to new insights and revelations, which brings us into our third nature, where the conscious and unconscious integrate.

Each class will consist of asana, pranayama, and meditation. Asana practice builds the cup, pranayama fills the cup, and meditation allows us to take the drink. We use props to build structure, scaffolding, and contact for the body to open so that we don't have to rely on muscular effort. Katonah Yoga builds a true strength that comes from having good techniques, boundaries, and support, on the mat and off.
